Message from Chief Patron

Sadeka Halim, PhD

Vice Chancellor
Jagannath University

I am extremely happy and delighted to know that Department of Chemistry, Jagannath University (JnU) is hosting a two-day International Conference on Recent Advances in Chemistry (ICRAC) on 08-09 November 2024 at university premises. To my best knowledge, it is the 2nd International Conference arranged by the Department of Chemistry, JnU. I congratulate all the faculty members of the Department of Chemistry, Jagannath University for organizing this international conference. I wholeheartedly welcome all the distinguished national and international scientists, academicians, researchers, and participants at this conference.

The conference’s theme ‘Chemistry Innovations for Smart Future’ is pertinent to the contemporary perspective of Bangladesh and the world as well. We are heading towards the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR). The emergence of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in our lives has added another feather to the crown of this revolution. This innovation has already brought a radical change in our thoughts and lifestyles. The Government of Bangladesh has the vision to build Bangladesh as a smart country within 2041. In this view the government is promoting the concept of four foundations, ‘Smart Citizen’, ‘Smart Government’, ‘Smart Economy’ and ‘Smart Society’ through implementing the mission of Digital Bangladesh. It is the high time; we invested our resources in innovative scientific research. The goal is to ensure a quality living for the citizens of Bangladesh and make the country a hub for innovation and entrepreneurship. In this connection, a scientist needs to be update with the recent inventions and discoveries around the world. The Chemists, Chemical technologists and the allied communities dealing with chemistry bear their major responsibilities towards achieving this objective through the discovery of new technology for food security, pollution control and patented research in medicine. Adoption of novel technologies and innovations in processes and practices would create new economic opportunities and attract investment from abroad. This will help create a more prosperous and inclusive society for all citizens.

I am welcoming the scientists, academicians and research fellows related to the field of chemistry and chemical technology all over the world to attend the conference, participate and exchange their scientific views in different technical sessions. The current issues and the problems related to the theme of the conference would be discussed and explored in this two-day program. This congregation would add to our contemporary knowledge in chemistry and related areas and would go a long way in promoting the quest for research and development in chemistry towards a smart future.

I wish a very pleasant and successful completion of this conference.
